Obituary:
--------------
FORT BARNWELL | Irma Lee Kilpatrick Barwick, 99, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, at her residence in Fort Barnwell with her life-long companion and niece, Patsy K. York at her side.
She was the matriarch of the Kilpatrick family of the Sand Hill section of Lenoir County. Mrs. Barwick was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Lemuel Barwick; parents James L. and Addie Marine Kilpatrick; brothers, Harold, Milton, Albert, Marvin M., and James L. Jr.; and sisters, Evelyn Barwick, Verna Smith, Marie West, Mary Edna Butler, and Florence Young. She is loved and survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a long standing member of Fort Barnwell Missionary Baptist Church where she held many positions. Her entire life was centered around her church, which was the most important thing in her life; she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, quilted with the ladies of the church and she was an astute business woman who was admired by all. She was the backbone of the Kilpatrick family – always there with her guidance, support, and love.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at Fort Barnwell Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Church followed by burial in the Church Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Fort Barnwell Rescue Squad, 9334 NC 55W, Dover, NC 28526 or Fort Barnwell Missionary Baptist Church, 9335 NC 55W, Dover, NC 28526.
