Ernest J. Hillenbrand Sr. died at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 1927 at the age of 59 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hillenbrand and was born in Nov. 4, 1868 in East Bristol, WI. His father and mother came to this country from Germany about 70 years ago. He was educated in the East Bristol parochial school and in the public school. He worked with his father for a number of years on the farm, when finally he entered the contracting business. He was married on October 8, 1895 to Philopena Duschak, who preceded him in death about 17 years ago. Mr. Hillenbrand came to Sun Prairie to live in 1901, at which time he entered the general merchandise business in partnership with Otto J. Weisensel. After a few years they dissolved partnership and 2 years or so following, in 1912, Mr. Hillenbrand bought out the clothing business of J. B. Rood. Those of the immediate family remain to mourn his passing are a daughter, Miss Laura Hillenbrand of Sun Prairie; and two sons, Ernest of this village and Oscar of Madison. His mother, Mrs. Frances Hillenbrand of Random Lake, also remains. Seven brothers survive him; namely, Dr. George and Dr. John of Chicago, Dr. Charles of Germantown, Dr. Henry of Spring Green, Rev. Fr. Hillenbrand of Random Lake, Leo of Kenosha, and Frank of Keensburg, CO. Four grandchildren, Audrey and Jean, daughters of Ernest J. Hillenbrand Jr. and Helen and Robert, daughter and son of Oscar Hillenbrand, likewise remain, besides a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Frs. Salentin of Sun Prairie, Hillenbrand of Random Lake and Schmidt of Randolph officiated. The Rev. Frs. Hess of Waterloo and Gensler of East Bristol were in the sanctuary. The body was laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Theodore Krause, Ed Klubertanz, Frank Stegerwald, John Brandenstin, Andrew Lohneis, and Charles Endres.
