Martha Alberding
Martha M. Alberding, 68, Remington died at 2:05 p.m. Friday at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.
The daughter of John and Flossie Randle Reed, she was born Nov. 13, 1918 in Rensselaer. She was a member of the Rensselaer High School Class of 1936.
She was married 16 May 1939 to Chris Alberding, who survives.
She had worked for eight years in the superintent's office of the Tri-County School Corp., for 13 years as secretary-bookkeeper for Rensselaer Electric, and owned and operated Fabrics and Friends in Remington for two years.
She was a member of the Remington American Legion Auxiliary, the Rensselaer Bowling Association, the Jasper County Hospital Auxiliary and Tri Kappa sorority.
Survivors include five sons, Dr. Joseph Alberding, Portage, Mich., Tom Alberding, Kirkland, Ind., Lyle Alberding, Muscatine, Iowa, Steve Alberding, North Salem, Ind., John Alberding, Ham Lake, Minn.; and one daughter, Jill Alberding, Augusta, Ga.
Also surviving are three brothers, Herman Reed, Fort Worth, Texas, John Reed, Leesville, La., Charles Reed, Kent, Wash.; and two sister, Ann Dambman, Remington, and Betty Gage, Saint Helen, Mich. She had 14 grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
