He was the son of John I. and Flossie Reed was born March 7, 1931 in Indiana. He departed from us on January 3, 2014 at the St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers and four sisters
He retired as a SFC (E-7) from the US Army after 21 years of service. He served one tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam and multiple tours in Germany he was awarded The Bronze Star. After his military career he then worked and retired from Fort Polk Civil Service as a Telephone worker/lineman in 1986. John loved life and was just easy going, loved to hunt and fish. However, his Passion was spending time with his grandchildren and "Oh how he loved to tell stories of Day Gone Bye.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; his children; two daughters and sons-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law of Anacoco; one brother of Kent, WA; he was blessed with ten grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
The family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
