RITES ARE HELD FOR E. R. BURCH ­ BODY WILL BE TAKEN TO KENTUCKY FOR BURIAL WEDNESDAY
The body of Edward Romanus Burch, secretary-treasurer and general manager of the Miami Jockey club, who died of a heart attack Saturday, lay in state at Gautier Funeral Home following a requiem high mass this morning at the Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables. Mass was sung by the Rev. Joseph Faffan of the Coral Gables Church, assisted by the Rev. Father P. J. Roche of St. Mary's and the Rev. Father Florance Sullivan of Gess. Pallbearers were Frank Dominick, James Dunn, Joseph Morrow, M. L. Mershon, R. B. Cole and D. A. Tourielle. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Wildener, Robert Pentland, E. C. Romfh, Sen. Ernest Graham, Dan J. Mahoney, Hunter Lyon, Douglas Goddes, Mortimer Mahoney, Frank Stevens, Col. E. R. Bradley, C. Barry Shannon, Charles J. McLennan, Henry T. Duncan and Charles Warwick Jr. The body of Mr. Burch, accompanied by his son, Dr. John E. Burch, and a daughter, Miss Martina Burch, will be taken tonight to Payneville, Ky., for the burial Wednesday. Burch, who came here in 1935 from New Orleans, was one of the country's leading horse track executives. His hobby was plant and wild life conservation. He was auditor of the Miami Jockey Club before being made head of the Hialeah track.
