Son of Henry L. and Lucy (Emerson) Davis. He was born in Springfield, Ma. But, following the death of his father in 1884, his mother returned to Peabody, MA where he was raised. Attended Worcester Academy in the early 1900's and then Cornell Univ. (class of 1907). Moved to south Georgia sometime in the early 1900's. Married Lucia Norris in Baker Co., GA in 1916. Moved to Albany, Georgia circa 1920. Became cashier of Albany Exchange National bank (No. 5512) in 1920 and later president of the bank which eventually became the C&S bank of Albany. Known affectionately as 'Yank' Davis.
