She was born on January 12, 1919 in Statonville, Tn. to Edwin and Bessie Hurley. She came to the Valley in 1927 riding the train with her family. She met her future husband, Tom at church and fell in love at first sight. They were married for almost 69 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Bessie Hurley; daughter Jeanette Rapp; brother Clyde Hurley; sisters Mary Louise Christmas and Lottie Bea Patterson. Her family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband Eural Thomas Dillard of San Benito; two sons Tommy Dillard of San Benito and Earl Dillard of Bryan, Texas; two daughters Sarita Cox of Rochelle, Texas and Annette Singleton of Corpus Christi; one brother Ed Hurley of Smithville, Texas; two sisters Blanch Cline of Smithville, Texas and Marie Eubanks of Galveston, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was active at Baptist Temple Church and was active in the Eastern Star where she held the office of Worthy Matron from 1970 to 1971.
Visitation will be held today from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henry Thomae Funeral Home Chapel. Chapel services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Henry Thomae Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
