He was born in Bement on April 10, 1858. He was71 years old and married Mary Elenore Wiliams in Monticello on June 2, 1880. He leaves one daughter, Mss. Grace Ichkoff, Chicago and 2 grandchildren.
He secured his education in the Bement schools and was engaged in the grocery business in Bement until 1908 when he sold his business and came to Decatur with his family. He founded Decatur Fountain Co with several men in Decatur. The company manufactured soda fountains and store fixtures. The business was a success until 1915 when it failed and he came to the Herald where he has since been employed.
He was a supervisor on the Piatt county board, a member of the Woodmen camp and Masonic fraternity No 365 AF&AM, Bement Chapter No 65, R.A.M.Beaumanor Commandery, No 9, K. T.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon with burial in the Fairlawn cemetery.
