GLENVILLE - John E. Miller, 74, of Glenville, who was a retired school custodian, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at his home. He was the husband of Adela (Bortner) Miller.
The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Miller was born in Codorus Township, the son of the late Tobias B. and Ellen (Fishel) Miller.
He was employed as a custodian by Southern York County School District at the New Freedom Elementary School and later at Friendship Elementary School for 26 years prior to his retirement in 1980. He also served as caretaker for the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association property near Jefferson for the past seven years. He was a member of St. Jacob's (Stone) United Church of Christ Congregation, Jefferson Fire Company, and the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association.
Mr. Miller also is survived by a son, J. Lamar Miller, Brodbecks RD 2; a daughter, Anita K. Lyman, Montgomery Village, Md.; four grandchildren; a brother, Emory F. Miller, Red Lion, and two sisters, Anna Shauck, West York, and Blanche Auchey, York RD 10.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. K. Ray Lecrone, and the Rev. Richard C. Weaver, pastor of St. Jacob's (Stone) Lutheran Congregation.
