Lawson Barbour "Pete" Bondurant, 78 of Oakdale St., Martinsville, died Wednesday evening in Memorial Hospital, city.
Born in the Snow Creek Community of Franklin County, March 19th, 1900, he was the son of the late Granville Thomas Bondurant and Bettie Barbour Bondurant.
He came to Martinsville in 1920 where he became associated with Frank Richardson in the operation of Ford Motor Company.
From 1935 to 1938, he was a police officer with the Martinsville Police Department.
In 1938 he became self-employed, and retired in 1969.
He was a member of the Martinsville Elks and Patrick Henry Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
He attended the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ivy Warren Bondurant, one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Byrd of Rt. 2, Martinsville; three brothers, Clarence "Todd" Bondurant of Chatmoss and Eddie Thomas "Bud" Bondurant and Andrew Jackson "Jack" Bondurant, both of Rt. 5, Martinsville.
The funeral will be held Friday at McKee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
