James Julian Skinner age 87, a resident of Elba, Alabama passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 4, 2010 beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tony Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Hayes Funeral Home of Elba directing. Visitation will be held at Hayes Funeral Home on Sunday, January 3, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The family will be accepting flowers are those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice. James was a truck driver by trade and drove a semi for Dorsey Trailers for over forty years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Mr. Skinner was preceded in death by his wife Agatha Yarbrough Skinner, an infant son Leroy Skinner, along with ten of his siblings. Survivors include Daughter-Joyce (Robert) Bill of Palm Beach, FL, Daughter-Barbara Rugg of Elba, AL, Son-Jimmy Skinner of Elba, AL, Daughter-Nell (Milford) Johnson of Elba, AL, Daughter-Judy (Terry) Oglesby of Brundidge, AL, Son-Tommy (Brenda) Skinner of Elba, AL, Son-Donnie (Carolyn) Skinner of Saucier, MS, and Daughter-Debbie (Dwayne) Rhoades of Kinston, AL. He is also survived by a Sister-Doris Turner of Abbeville, AL, Brother-Lewis Skinner of Enterprise, AL, Brother-Leslie Skinner of Hartford, AL, Brother-in-law-R.E. (Mary) Yarbrough of Geneva, AL, and Special Friend -Helen Thigpen of Elba, AL. He was also the proud grandfather of twenty-two grandchildren one (Seth Manring) of which is currently serving in the US Navy at HN3 Bastion Hospital in Afghanistan, and fifteen great grandchildren.
