AUBURN - Joe Bachman, 54, died Monday, November 8, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines of an aneurysm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburn. Celebrant will be Father Lynn Bruch and burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Auburn. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a vigil prayer service at 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburn.

Joseph Duane Bachman was born May 20, 1956 to Speck and Helen Bachman of Auburn. Joe found a passion for music at a young age thanks to his dad. He was a member of the band, Trinity, where he was all rock-n-roll with a bit of country. He could play a mean "Wipe Out!"

In his young adulthood he found freedom on the open road driving semi trucks for his brother Carl. Joe got to experience traveling from coast to coast, picking up trinkets that he wouldn't have had the opportunity to do otherwise.

Joe was an avid fan of Nascar and of course the Hawkeyes. He was a great friend that you could always count on. He was a man of simplicity but thrived at life through his great humor, personality, and all of his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his parents, Speck and Helen Bachman of Auburn; sisters, Bonnie (Paul) Hasenwinkel of Adel, and Kristine (Gary) Klemminga of Ankeny; brothers, Carl (Claudia) King of Auburn, and Roger (Patsy) King of Lake View; daughters, Shelly (Steve) Gray of Vinton, Cheylan and Shawna Bachman of Farnhamville; son Shawn Richards of Sac City; 5 grandchildren; 2 nieces, 4 nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
