BAXTER SPRINGS, KS — Cheryl A. "Pokey" Porter, 63, of Baxter Springs, Kan., passed away at 11:46 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, following a battle with cancer.
She was born June 15, 1947, in Baxter Springs, the daughter of Howard and Rhoda (Sexton) Bryant.
Following the death of Howard, Rhoda married Haskell Shorter, of Welch, Okla.
In September of 1985, she was united in marriage to Larry Porter. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2006.
She was a homemaker and was also employed at Ace Electric in Columbus, for 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Stevens, of Scammon, Kan.; a son, Mike (Tammy) Davis, of Baxter Springs; four grandsons; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Derfelt Funeral Home, Baxter Springs Chapel with Vivian Davidson officiating.
Family will receive friends after the services.
A private burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Carmel Foundation and/or the American Cancer Society.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Midland Cremation Society, services by Derfelt's Baxter Springs Chapel.
