Estus Ballard services held at New Hope
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrence County for Estus Ballard, 70, who died Saturday morning at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello following an illness of one month. Rev. Sam Wagner and Rev. F. E. Sellers officiated and interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Ballard was a native of Monticello and had formerly resided in Louisiana. He was employed for many years as a yard foreman for Tidewater Oil Company. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Winnie Lambert Ballard of Monticello; one son, Dudley Ballard of Brookhaven; one daughter, Mrs. Grover Cone of Buras, La; four sisters, Mrs. Dollie Thames, Mrs. Ottis Nelson, both of Jayess; Mrs. Janie Thames, Mrs. Maggie King, both of Monticello and eight grandchildren.
