From Jane Weaver: My grandpa is William N Corwin. He was born in Mineer IL, a suburb of Chicago. His parents, Asa Corwin and Anna Bruch, were from OH. He was the 4th of 5 children. Will's father joined the army during the Civil War and they ended up in Missouri in 1870. Asa was injured in the war and he got some free land in Washington state and also a pension. They moved to Ashland, NE to be near her sisters before 1875. (Kate Bruch Pine and Emma Bruch Kitchingman). After 1875, Asa abandoned all of them and Anna died in abt1877. Most of The kids were left around Ashland NE. Tom and Alice lived with the Kitchingman's and Elmer and Fred lived with the Pines. Grandpa was taken in by Nat and Evva Wells. Mary Wells married Edwin Cox (Nat's brother) and their daughter Jennie was much younger than Will. The whole bunch moved to Santa Ana, CA, and grandpa waited until Grandma was an old maid until the Cox's would allow their marriage. Grandpa said he fell in love with grandma when he first saw her when she was 3 years old. She wouldn't marry anyone else so at age 30 and he was 44? they finally wed and moved to Hemet, CA and started a walnut and apricot ranch. They had three children; Doris, Wilbur, and Ardis.

I am Ardis' daughter, Jane Councilman Weaver

Corrections from my loving sister Sandra--all in her book. "Grandma and Grandpa first met when she was 3 and he was 11. Amos, her brother took her to school with him on the last day, so she could say her "piece." Grandpa had just come to live with Aunt Evva Wells, but they did not get married until she was 32 and he was 40.
