John T Spear, age 70 years, and 11 months, died at is residence in Lanett 7:45 o'clock. Sunday eveing, Dec. 31, after a months's illness.

He was a resident of Lanett for the past eleven years, moving to Lanett from Five Points, Ala. He was born in Harris County, Ga., Feb. 12, 1863. He was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sam Heath, Rev. R. B. Lavender and Rev. Grady Bradshaw, at the Lanett Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment at Lanett cemetery. Johnsn & Blakely, funeral directors in charge.

Pall bearers were Willie Jordan, Arthur Cox, H. T. Pepper and W. M. Tyson.

He is survived by his wife who was formerly Miss Rosa Gilmore; three daughters, Mrs. J. B. Jeter, Stroud, Ala., Mrs. Jack Anderson, Thomaston, Ga.; Miss Lillie Spear, Lanett; two sons, Oscar Spear and Arnold Spear, both of Lanett.

Mr. Spear was well known both in Lanett and in Chambers county.

John Spear Passed in Lanett Sunday
John Spear, aged 71 years, died at his home in Lanett last Sunday night about eight o'clock following a brief illness, according to information here this ______.
Mr. Spence was well known in Chambers County for having made his home her for a long period of years. He was married to Miss Rosa Gilmore, sister of W. J. Gilmore, of this city. He was a member of the Lanett Baptist church.
Funeral service was held from the Lanett Baptist church last Monday afternoon at three o'clock, with the Baptist and Methodist ministers of that city officiating. Johnson & Blakely, Lanett undertakers, were in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Lanett cemetery.
Surviving are two sons; O. C. Spear, Lanett, and Arnold Spear, Lanett; three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Jeter; Mrs. Kate Anderson and Miss Leila Mae Spear. Other relatives throughout the county also survive.
