Tom was killed 7 Sept 1926 in Webster county after an outing with his wife, niece Eva and husband Edward Slater while stopping to fix a flat tire he and Edward was struck by a driver who was driving with a young son on his lap. Tom was so badly hurt he died within 30 minutes. He left Elizabeth at home and daughters Laley Porter and Nezie Vanmeter and one grandson.
