Grandson, George Edward Ahrens, believed that Caroline gave birth to eight chlldren; he said the other children were possibly from another marriage, and they raised one or two grandchildren also. He stated they raised possibly fourteen children, and two grandchildren. A second marriage has not been proved at this time.
