Mrs. Isabel Hayes Died In Florida And Was Buried At Baring Saturday
Mrs. Isabel Hayes of Delray Beach, Florida, 73 years old, died Tuesday afternoon, May 8, 1956, only two days over two weeks after the death of her brother, W. T. Nooning, who died here at the home of his son, W. C. Nooning, April 22, 1956. Death came to Mrs. Hayes suddenly of a heart attack.
The body arrived in Baring at 11:30 o'clock Friday morning and was taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Norman Burke. Rosary was said there by the Rev. Stephen Carew in the evening. Funeral services were at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Aloysius Church, Baring, conducted by the Rev. Father Carew. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery, there beside the grave of Mrs. Hayes' late husband, Lawrence Hayes, who died Aug. 27, 1944.
All nine of the children born to Mr. and Mrs. Hayes survive. They are: Anne, Mrs. Raymond Glaves, of Washington, D. C.; Marjorie, Mrs. Norman Burke; Maurita, Mrs. E. B. Nichols, Mrs. Beata Hanrahan and Paul Hayes of Delray Beach; Miss Roberta Hayes of Bridgeport, Conn.; Matthew Hayes of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Lawrence M. Hayes of Huron, S. Dak.; M/Sgt. Robert L. Hayes of Eielson Air Base, Alaska. Twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive.
Five sisters and three brothers also survive; Mrs. Anna Ludden of Brashear; Florence, Mrs. Ed Ainslie, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Margaret Moore of Montrose, Iowa; Mrs. Mary McCloksey, and Noema, Mrs. J. W. Taylor, and John Nooning of Baring; Andrew Nooning of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Edward Nooning of Denver, Colo.
Mrs. Hayes was one of the fourteen children of William and Rose Quinn Nooning and she was born March 15, 1883, near Adair, where she grew to womanhood. She and Mr. Hayes were married May 1, 1906, and they lived in Knox County and various places in Missouri until moving to Delray Beach in 1937.
Preceding Mrs. Hayes in death besides her parents and the brothers mentioned, William T. Nooning, and her husband, were two brothers and a sister, all grown, Celestine, Matt and Kate Nooning, and an infant sister.
Among others coming from a distance for the funeral of Mrs. Hayes were: Mrs. E. B. Nichols and Paul Hayes of Delray Beach; M/Sgt. Robert L. Hayes, who flew from his air base in Alaska; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Glaves, Washington, D. C.; Lawrence Hayes and family, Huron, S. Dak., Mrs. Margaret Moore and son, Norbert, Montrose, Iowa; A. J. Nooning and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ludden and John Ludden and family, Ft. Madison, Iowa; Frank McGonigle and family, Rock Island, Ill.; Robert L. Moore, Peoria, Ill.; James McCloskey and family, St. Louis; Robert W. Taylor and family, Dexter, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo McMahon, Hannibal; Minor Dean Wright and family, Quincy; Francis Moore, Novinger and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cody of La Plata.
