Giles Tompkins was the first
of the name that appeared in
Albemarle Co. He purchased
land on Totier Creek in 1760
from Solomon Hancock, part of
400 acres he patented 4 years
earlier. In 1777 he sold the
rest to Giles son William.
William's estate "Whitehall"
joined his father between
Hardware River and Totier
Creek just west of Scottsville,
Va. William probably was buried
at Whitehall.

I received back a reply from the Scottsville Museum that has the local cemeteries on their web site about the possible location of Giles and William Tompkins. They had no info on a burial in their records of either one so we still think that Whitehall or Giles property is the most likely place for them along with their wives.
