CHOSKA FARMER, RALPH STONE, DIES SATURDAY
Thomas Ralph Stone, Sr., 62, one of the outstanding Wagoner County farmers in the Choska Bottoms area since the turn of the century, died last Saturday night, May 14, 1949, in a Muskogee hospital following a brief illness.
Born August 10, 1887 in Bates County, Missouri, Stone came to the then Indian Territory with his parents when he was one year old, moving to Council Hill, Oklahoma when he was 20 years old and later to the Coweta, Oklahoma area.
As a farmer in the Choska Bottoms, Stone pioneered many of the advanced farming practices which helped develop this area into one of the outstanding agricultural producing areas in this state.
Funeral services for Ralph were held Monday afternoon in the Porter Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma under the direction of the Wright Funeral Home of Coweta, Oklahoma.
Besides his wife, Stone is survived by four sons, Ralph, Jr. of Pharr, Texas, Bill of Coweta, Oklahoma, Gene of the home, and Kenneth of Porter, Oklahoma; and two daughters, Mrs. Alma Vaught of Baird, Texas and Mrs. Bobbie Ruth Fryer of Tuleake, California.
A brother, Charles Stone of Boynton, Oklahoma and a sister, Mrs. Effie Conatzer of Ketchum, Oklahoma, also survive.
