The memorial service honoring the life of Clifford Gene Stone will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel, 417 East Cherokee St., Wagoner, OK.

Clifford Gene Stone was born April 2, 1931 in the Choska Bottom, near Tallahassee, OK. He was one of six children born to Hattie Pearl (Spurgeon) and Thomas Ralph Stone Sr. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University), where he was a member of the A & M Auto Club. Gene taught at Central High School in Tulsa for many years He really enjoyed teaching both wood and metal shop classes as well as automotive classes. Following retirement he began a new career at Rockwell International, retiring from there later on.

Gene was called into active duty in 1950 to serve his country in the United States Army. He received an Army occupation Medal for Japan and a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star and a United Nations Service Medal.

Gene married the former Billie Joan “Jan” Hyden on August 3, 1957. They enjoyed a long and happy life together spanning near 62 years. They were lifelong Porter and Coweta area residents and members of the Porter First Baptist Church.

Gene loved airplanes and flying as well. He had a private pilot’s license, and he and his brothers flew planes such as piper cubs and Cessnas. For a while they even had a crop dusting business.

Gene departed this life Wednesday morning, July 31, 2019 at his home in Coweta, OK at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Brett Eugene Stone and all his siblings, Alma Stone Vaught, Ralph Thomas Stone, Bobbie Ruth Deerinwater, Kenneth Lee Stone and Bill D. Stone.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jan Stone; his son, Steven Alan Stone and numerous nieces and nephews.
