Mrs. Katherine Keranen, 93, a resident of M-26 Atlantic Mine, passed away at her home after a few days illness.
The former Katherine Lampsa was born in Kestila, Oulu, Finland on August 15, 1875 and came to the United States on Dec. 13, 1905 first living in Atlantic Mine. Since 1920 she had made her home on a farm on M-26 near Atlantic Mine.
Mrs. Keranen was a member of the Atlantic Mine Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Henry, passed away on March 18, 1926.
Surviving are six daughters, Jean, Elma, Fannie, Elvira, Eleanor and Helen; five sons, Lauri, Carl, Edward, Benjamin and Thomas; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Atlantic Mine Apostolic Lutheran Church, the Rev. Andrew Mickelsen to officiate. Burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church at 12 noon Saturday from the Jukuri Funeral Home where friend may call after 1 p.m. on Friday.
