Bethel Cochran Fendley, 84, of 303 South C Street, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.

Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Fendley was a daughter of the late Eupha Leon and Lula Durham Cochran. She retired from Fedder's Department Store and was a member of the First Baptist Church where she belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley F. and the Rev. Sam Byrum and Ann and Randy Freeman, all of Easley; two sisters, Itell Reid of Greenville and Frances Argo of Greensboro, N.C.; a special sister-in-law, Christine Cochran of Easley; and three grandchildren, Melanie Wilkins and her husband Jimmy of Boiling Springs, David Byrum and Hanna Freeman, both of Easley. Mrs. Fendley was predeceased by her first husband, William McWhorter, who was killed in World War II; her second husband, W.V. Fendley; two brothers, J.T. Cochran and William P. Cochran; and one sister, Pauline Kelley.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Anderson and the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Escort of Honor will be the Fidelis Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
