RAVEN, Va. - Mr.· Dahmon A. Ball, 72, of Raven, passed away Friday, May 12, 2000, in a Richlands, Va., hospital following a long illness.
Born in Tazewell County, Va., he was the son of the late Albert and Etta Horton Ball. He was a retired coal miner formerly employed by Pittston Coal Co. He was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Virginia Bear Hunters Association and the West Virginia Bear Hunters Association.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Dewey, Carness, Willard, Billy, Marvin, Jim and Lawrence Ball, and a sister, Mrs. Andy (Ethel) Short.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Marcella Hunt Ball; four sons, Wayne Ball, Larry Ball and wife Rita, Dahmon "Ikey" Ball and wife Tilda, all of Raven, and Dennis "Dink" Ball and wife Pat of Cedar Bluff,. Va.; three daughters, Kathy Davis and hus­band James of Swords Creek, Va., Beth Taylor and husband Eddie of Pennington Gap, Va., and Shelia Mathena of Raven; one brother, Donald Ball of Raven; three sis­ters, Myrtle Short of Raven, Alta Lowe of Elkton, Md., and Oakley Carr of Piqua, Ohio; 14 grandchil­dren, Jeffrey Ball, Jessica Ball, Angie Hains, Andrew Ball, Tabitha Ball, Jamie Davis, Billy Hale, Sheri Hale, Zachary Ball, Ben Taylor, Tarah Taylor; Adam Taylor, Austin Mathena and Emily Mathena.
Funeral services will be con­ducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Claudie Throgmartin and Brother Jack Brown officiating. Burial will fol­low in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va.
Pallbearers will be Roy Joe Horne, Bob Ball, John Short, Russell Short, Danny Ball, Gene Ball, Virgil Short and Morrison Short. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Keenan, Jimmy Thomas, Richard Thomas, Jack Thompson, Todd Harris, Barry Taylor, Chad Taylor, Dennis Taylor, Rick Cox, Denny Long, Dewayne Keen, Jack Zane Thompson, Jerry Rife, Scott McGlothlin, John Martin and Jack Howery.
