Mrs. John Anthony, 79, well known woman of the eastern section of Henry County, passed away Thursday evening at her home at Lone Oak following a week's illness. Death resulted from cerebral hemorrhage.
Mrs. Anthony was formerly Miss Nannie Jones, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Deph Jones, and was born March 14, 1855, in the home in which she died at Lone Oak. Early in life she became a member of the Baptist church and continued an active leader until she became ill. In May 1877, she was united in marriage to John Anthony of this county, who survives her, together with one niece, Mrs. J. W. Ivie of Leaksville,N.C. and two nephews, A. T. Hopper and Thomas W. Field.
Mrs. Anthony was well known and greatly loved by a wide circle of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the home Saturday afternoon. Interment followed in the family burial cemetery nearby.

A second notice appeared in the paper dated May 29, 1934, p. 2, col. 1 [edited]. In the death of Mrs. John Anthony of Lone Oak on Thursday, May 17th, Henry County lost one of its best and most highly esteemed women. Mrs. Anthony was before marriage Miss Nannie Jones, the last remaining member of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Debb [sic] Jones. There were ten children in the family. She was married to John Anthony on May 21, 1877. They had no children, but several members of the family fell to the care of Mrs. Anthony. She is survived by her husband, John Anthony, one niece, Mrs. J. W. Ivie of Leaksville,N.C. and two nephews, Allen T. Hopper of Leaksville and Thos. W. Field of Charleston, W. Va. source: Bruce Locke
