Mrs. Violet Rasmus, age 86 of Kerrville, TX passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 in a San Angelo County care center.

She was born March 27, 1922, in San Antonio to Harry Ballard Poland and Marvel (Bacon) Poland. On October 15, 1949, she married J. Wendell Rasmus in San Antonio.

He preceded her in death in 1992.

Mrs. Rasmus received her Bachelor's Degree from Trinity University and was a public school teacher. She was a member of First Christian Church of Kerrville.

Survivors include daughters, Rebecca Parman and husband, James of San Marcos; and Mary Ann Medley and husband, David of Philadelphia, Pa.; sons, Jim Rasmus and wife, Mary of Colorado Springs, Col.; and John Rasmus and wife, Donna of Snyder, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Tracy Chapman, Tammy Barnes, Rachel Armock, Lydia Evans, Sarah Byrd, Bethany Rasmus, Matthew Rasmus, Mindy Carroll, Chad Baldwin and John Ryan Rasmus; and nine great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by the Rev. Arlie Lammers.

Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Parman, Will Barnes, David Medley, John Ryan Rasmus, Matthew Rasmus and Daniel Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
