Mrs. Charles Hiatt, 76, passed away Friday morning at the St. John's Hospital in Spalding, Nebraska, after suffering a second stroke. She had been hospitalized for several months. (Funeral details followed.)

Mrs. Charles Hiatt was born Francis Emma Leimgruber on August 1, 1881 at Bellevue, Ohio. It was in that vicinity that she lived the greater part of her childhood and youth.

When she cam to the state of Nebraska is not known. However, Mrs. Hiatt took teachers' training at Peru State Normal College and graduated from there. For a number of years, she taught school at various places, mostly in the State of Nebraska.

On December 19, 1917, she was united in marriage to Charles T. Hiatt, a widower. She became a mother to his six children through his previous marriage. Three children were born through this union.

Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt resided in Wolbach and then in Spalding. Fourteen years ago, they returned to Wolbach. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She departed this life on May 30, 1958 at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 29 days.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing, besides her husband, her three children: Mrs. Rosella Nelson, Ericson, Nebraska; Charles F. Hiatt, Malden, Massachussetts and Kenneth W. Hiatt of Lincoln, Nebraska; six step-children, Mrs. Gladys Srouse and Mrs. Irene Steinwart, both of Elsie, Nebraska; Mrs. Ada Behrman of Nampa, Idaho; Mr. Roy Hiatt, Elsie, Nebraska, Mr. Allen Hiatt, Palo Alto, California and Mrs. Anna Bartlett, Lincoln, Nebraska.
