David Stohl Hatch 1922 ~ 2010 David Stohl Hatch died October 26, 2010 of cancer. Born December 30, 1922 in Brigham City, Utah to Amos Chester and Edna Stohl Hatch. Married Mary Lu Joseph September 7, 1946. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She died September 7, 1981. Married Barbara Paulson Durham, June 5, 1982. Executive with ZCMI, retiring in 1985 after 37 years service. Veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Japan, and as an officer in the US Army Reserve for 25 years. Held numerous positions in the LDS Church including high councilor, bishop (twice) and counselor in stake presidency. Cherished his many years in the Bonneville and Monument Park Stakes. With wife Barbara, fulfilled a mission (1987-1989) as director of Washington, DC Temple Visitors Center. For 18 years he served on committees staging All-Church basketball and softball tournaments. Served as coordinator of the LDS Church-University of Utah international student friendship program (1990-2006). He also served in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker from 1996 - 2010. Loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his two families, traveling, gardening, and sports - both televised and in person. Also took great pride in selecting two marvelous, world-class wives. Survived by wife Barbara, and children Madelyn (Dennis) Johnson, Paul (Jackie), Stephen (Judy), Suzanne (Norman) Watkins, Amy (Scott) Trussell, James (Janet) Durham, stepchildren Cole (Louise), Mark (Mary), Paul (Maren), Janet (Kelly) Tate, Janie (Dennis) Reese, Nancy (Mark) Gasser, Margery (Scott) Sorensen, Richard (Christena). Preceded in death by stepdaughter Marilyn (David) Lee, brothers Chester (Colleen) and Joe, sister Louise (Leon) Robinson. Also survived by 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grand-children, 53 step-grandchildren and 28 step-great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Oleen (Clara Mae), sisters Margaret Knight, Hazel Whitney, Mary (Chesley) Davies, Helen (Tom) Lake. Loved having discussions with friends about their total posterity which numbered, at the time of his death, 222. We will miss this kind and gentle man whose legacy of hard work, unselfishness, faith and love will live on in our hearts always.
