At one o'clock yesterday afternoon the breath of life fled from the emaciated form of Abram W. Blair, who has been struggling against hope with tuberculosis of the lungs for several months. He was brought here about five weeks ago from Ottumwa, IA by his sister, Mrs. C. O.Netesta and after stopping at the hotel for a few days they moved into the Blair house on E. Main St. where he died. Abram W. Blair was born May 17, 1850 on the farm now known as the Kruse farm three miles southeast of this village and was the son of Mary and James Blair. He resided on the homestead until he went west nearly twenty-five years ago. He was married to Miss Hattie Freeman and one daughter was born of this union. Both his wife and daughter have preceded him in death. For the past seven years he has had his residence at Ottumwa, IA. Just when he was taken ill with the disease that brought him to death is not known, but he realized that he was stricken with a disease that he could not throw off and a great desire came over him to visit the old farm once more before he was called to eternal seep. He wrote to Postmaster Lewis a letter of inquiry regarding the whereabouts of the Blair family and stated his desire. The letter was placed in the hands of his mother and sister at St. Paul, the latter of whom, Mrs. Netesia, proceeded as quickly as possible to Ottumwa and brought him here. His one desire, however, was not experienced, as his weakened condition would not permit a trip to the old farm. Deceased is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Mary E. Blair, who came from St. Paul upon his arrival here and remained with him until his death, one sister, Mrs. Netesta, who was also with him at the last, and one brother, James Blair of Lead, SD. The funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at ten o'clock with Rev. C. W. Stark officiating and the remains will be placed in the family lot in the village cemetery.
