His mother preceded him in death when he was eight years of age and the father in February, 1931. A half brother was killed in the first world war and the Carl L. Caviness Post of Chariton bears his name. A full brother and sister and a half sister have also preceded him.
One brother, Jess of Derby, a half brother, Alfred of Boise, Idaho, a half sister, Mrs. Minnie Waugh of Chariton, 19 nieces and nephews and many friends lament his passing.
He has been nearly blind for 25 years and for the past six weeks has been almost without sight and has been tenderly cared for by the brother in his home.
