JESSE CAVINESS

Jesse Lonzo Caviness, son of David and Rachel Fowler Caviness, was born June 28, 1867, in Henry county, Ia., and departed this life Sept. 12, 1962, at the Boyd Nursing Home in Chariton.

He had reached the age of 95 years, two months and 15 days. His mother passed away when he was eight years old and his father in 1931.

In 1889 he was united in marriage to Laura Harper, who preceded him in death in 1954. To this union nine children were born. Two sons, Leroy and James, preceded him in death.

Those left to mourn his passing are daughters, Mrs. Mae Vest, Creston; Mrs. Minnie Rouse, Des Moines; Mrs. Bertha Mattix, Derby; Mrs. Iva Terrell, Mrs. Beryl Fowler and Mrs. Mary Heston, all of Chariton; and Mrs. Opal Reynolds, Henderson, Ky. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Caviness of Boise, Idaho, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Miley Chapel with the Rev. J. E. Clark officiating. Interment was in the Goshen cemetery.
