Frederick Rominger was the sixth of ten known children of Michael Rominger (1780-1824) and Christina Ebert (1782-1844), who married 23 Oct 1804 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.
Frederick married the widow, Mrs. Susan Ornburn Custer (1816-1904) on 18 Aug 1853 at Schuyler County, Missouri. Susan had first been married to Steven George Custer (1798-1847) on 15 Mar 1838 at Monroe County, Missouri and had three children with him. Frederick and Susan were the parents of three known children, namely:
1. Henry Clay Rominger (1856-1951)
2. Edward Everett Rominger (1859-1924)
3. Hermetta Mary Rominger (1861-1957)
