Mr.Charles J.Porteous, 65 of 487 College street; formerly of 467 Strathmillan road, St.James died Saturday in St.Boniface hospital. Born in Winnipeg, he resided in St.James for more than 50 years. Before moving to Strathmilian road, he resided on the Lord Strathcona estate for 15 years. He was a member of St.Anne's parish. His wife died in 1936, and his son Louis in 1946. Surviving are 4 daughters; Frances & Edna at home, Mrs.Corinne Porteous, & Mrs.Aleta Janz, both of St.James; 4 sons, Gerald & James, both of St.James, Melville at home, and Donald, of Winnipeg; 20 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Miss Olive Porteous & Mrs.Margaret McMillan, both of Ashern, Man.; 4 brothers, James of St.James, Edward of Winnipeg, & William & Thomas, both of Ashern. Prayers will be said Monday at 8 pm in the Park Lawn Mortuary. Requiem high mass will be sung Tuesday at 10 am in St.Anne's Roman Catholic church Hampton street St.James Burial will be in St.Charles cemetery.
