Hugh "Ebby" Edward Rhodes, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 25, 2010. He was born November 16, 1930, to the late Cecil and Mary Edna (Sevedge) Rhodes in Corydon, IN.

After graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1949, he joined the Air Force. When stationed in Alaska, he met and married the love of his life, Marjorie (Hank) Nanouk Rhodes, who passed in August 2010.

Ebby has previously worked at Boeing, and the Alaskan Railroad. He had wired planes, trains, and homes. After retiring from Amtrak in 1994, he joined MAPPERS, a missionary outreach program, building schools, churches, and campgrounds across America. Traveling thru the U.S., he has made numerous friends, and helped many people. A member of the Mars Hill Free Methodist Church, God, family, and friends were the center of his life. Passions include IU basketball, baseball, and open-wheel racing.

He is survived by his children, Darlene (Randy) Love, Jerry Rhodes, David Rhodes, and Mary (John) Bussing; grandchildren, Stephanie (William) Barlow; brothers, John Rhodes, James (Shirley) Rhodes; in-laws, Judith Rhodes, Betty Anagick, Mary Ann (Ellsworth) Haugan, Rachael Lestenkof, Theresa Nanouk, Emily Nanouk, Alfred (Ruth) Nanouk, Nelson Hykes; and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. He was preceded in death by brother, Arvin Rhodes; uncles, James and William Sevedge.
