John Emory Alexander Jr., 71, of Roanoke, Va., was called to rest on Friday, October 22, 2010. He was born on May 8, 1939, in Salem, Va., to the late John Emory Alexander Sr. and Grace Morrison Alexander. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Lorrine Holland Alexander; and one sister, Carnita Price. He retired from Nabisco after many years of service. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted children, Angela (Donald) Burnette, Ronald Alexander and Donald Alexander, all of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Ricardo Alexander, Ebony Stephens Ensley, Tre' Jones, Dominque Craggett, D'Asia Holland, Eric Harriston, all of Roanoke and O'brian Garrison, of Lynchburg; five greatgrandchildren; one sister, Grace Williams, of Salem; one brother, Maynard (Linda) Alexander, of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Jackie Beale, Shirley Akers, and Gaynell (June) Akerson; one brother-in-law, Tommy Holland, all of Roanoke; a special and devoted cousin, Nathan (Andrea) Logan; special and devoted friends, Essie Bell, Mary Stephens, and Sondra Rorrer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Adrian Dowell officiating. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call on Tuesday afternoon, October 26, 2010, for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
