Loyce D. Culbertson, 84, died at a local hospital Sunday, July 11, 2010. Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with a rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. Entombment: 2 p.m. Monday in Columbarium I in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to St. Andrew Catholic Church. Loyce Linnell Ellen duMenil Culbertson was born Oct. 6, 1925, in San Antonio, daughter of the late Arthur duMenil and Loyce Frances West. After graduation from St. Mary's High School in San Antonio, she was employed at Stinson Field and married Harvey Rex Culbertson of Fort Worth on July 14, 1944, at Kelly Field. They were married for 62 years. After his military service, they returned to Fort Worth in 1946 and have resided here since that time. Mrs. Culbertson was a seventh-generation Texan. An uncle, Isaac Ryan, died in 1836 at the Alamo and a cousin died at the Battle of Goliad. She was employed for 20 years at Gulf Oil and for 17 years at W.A. Moncrief and Sons. Her husband was president of Corvett Oil Corp. for over 40 years and vice president of Texas Natural Gas Co. also for over 40 years. She was a member of the National Secretaries Association in Fort Worth in the late 1940s, a charter member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Guild Auxiliary, assisted the Carmelite Nuns in Arlington, and was a member of the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth for many years. Loyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother and neighbor and friend to many. With her husband and son being graduates of Texas Christian University, she was an avid TCU football fan and Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing as well as her dogs and cats. In addition to her parents, Loyce was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur duMenil Jr., and sister, Yvonne duMenil Murray. Survivors: Son, Richard D. Culbertson, an attorney who also is a former professor at Tarrant County College; sisters, Marian Hartman of Helotes and Beverly Davydiuk of St. Francis Village; and many nieces and nephews.
