Homer Drinnen, 82, died Thursday (July 2, 1998) at Columbia Wesley Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Plainville to John Douglas and Anna Elmira (Oswald) Drinnen. He married Darlene Lillibridge on July 13, 1941, in Manhattan. She survives of the home.
He grew up in and around Frankfort. He was a member of the VFW in Eureka. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Corp in the Third Armored Division in the European Theater for three years. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman and then a bulldozer operator in Marysville. He moved to Wichita where he retired as an ironworker and later moved to Fall River where he owned a dog kennel. He and his wife moved to Eureka and then to Newton.
He had many hobbies, fishing being one of his favorites, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed many other sports.
Other survivors include: one son, Lonny Drinnen of Peabody; one brother, Sidney Drinnen of Frankfort; two sisters, Helen Behrens of Marysville and Ruthie Ward of Fall River; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Drinnen; and one brother, Cecil Drinnen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery, veteran graveside rites conducted by Frankfort American Legion Post. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Padden Funeral Chapel.
