SALEM - John Arthur Jackson Sr., 97, of Salem died Sept. 25 at a hospital in Salem.
He was born Dec. 19, 1898, at Chickasa Nation, Okla., and lived in California before coming to Salem in 1962. He was an agricultural contractor.
He married Genevieve Frances Majewski on Feb. 14, 1980, at Reno, Nev.
He attended Capitol Baptist Church in Salem. He enjoyed playing pinochle.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve of Salem; sons J. W. Jackson and Roy Jackson, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters Dosia Morris of Salem, Jewel Smith of Winniwood, Okla.; sister Flossie Hill of Orand, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service were Sept. 30 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Interment was at Belle Passi Cemetery.
