Mr. Rion died Wednesday at University Hospital, in Charlottesville.
He was born March 9, 1923, in Rockingham County, and wsa a son of the late Emmett F. Rion and Fannie May Heiston Rion.
His wife, the former Ruth Hensley, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ernest A. and John E. Rion, Jr., both of Elkton; three sisters, Alice Hensley, Edna Sigafoose, and Helen Eye, all of Elkton; a brother, James Floyd Rion, of Elkton; and a granddaughter.
Mr. Rion had worked for A. B. Torrence & Co. at Elkton.
He was a member of the Harrisonburg Elks Lodge and Shenandoah Moose Lodge 2176.
The family will receive friends at the Brill Funeral Home 7-8 p.m. today. Friends may also call at the Rion home.
