Mrs. Sidney (Adeline) Wendling, 85, a resident of the Pioneer Home, died Thursday, May 29, at the home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the First Lutheran Church chapel, with Rev. Lauren Youngdale officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 8, 1901, in Hayti, S.D., one of nine children of August and Annie (Jorgenson) Olson. She grew up on a farm in South Dakota and attended the Normal Teachers School in Madison, S.D. She taught school in South Dakota for three years.
On Nov. 2, 1922, she and Sidney Wendling were married in Watertown, S.D. They lived on a farm near Hazel S.D. until moving to a farm near Wall Lake in 1937. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1959.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and its altar guild. She was a former member of the Dane Prairie Friendship Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Fergus Falls; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Olga Brown of Watertown, S.D., Irene Boswell of Castlewood, S.D., Grace Buckstead of Viborg, S.D., and Hazel Oines of Brookings, S.D.; and one brother, Russell Olson of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
