Son of Charlie Grant Phillips (1886-1978) and Bertha Phillips (1892-1930). He died from Diphtheria. His death was really hard on his father. I remember my grandfather (Charles Grant Phillips) telling me about how Charlie would smother and had difficulty in breathing. The doctors preformed a tracheotomy on little Charlie. My grandfather would keep the trach open by inserting a turkey feather into the incision to clear away opening. My grandfather described him as a sweet and happy child. The illness came sudden and he lost his sweet little boy.
