Woodville Examiner, 11 July 1917
Military Appeal Board JOHN MOUNTFORT, farmer, Mangarawa, appealed on the grounds of undue hardship. He had bought out his partner who left with the 18th Reinforcements. He had no relatives in NEw Zealand. With the help of his wife he milked 45 cows. He obtained help when possible. The Efficiency Board sent a man along, but the place wouldn't run the salary required. He would rather sell out.
