Bill joined the US Army right out of high school in 1959 and while stationed in Oklahoma met Dorothy Wise, his beloved wife. They had 3 sons and the sons produced Bill's pride and joy, his 6 grandchildren.
Bill joined the Wayne Fire Department on his return from the Army and then moved to Wayne Police Department where he attained the rank of Captain. He was in charge of the records department.
He retired at age 50 and suffered his first heart attack, in fact he checked himself out of the hospital to attend his retirement dinner. That's Bill . . . . his way or no way!
The final week of his life we were able to spend a lot of time with him; we traveled to Florida for an aunt's funeral, then when we came home we celebrated his niece's birthday.
We could tell he was not feeling well on that Sunday and on Wednesday morning he collapsed.
