He was a retired machinist from the Hercules Powder Company. He had lived in Webb City for the past 40 years and was a member of the Forest park Baptist Church at Joplin and the Carterville Masonic Lodge. Graveside services will be at 11AM Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev Burton Greenwood will officate. Burial will be under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.

Harry is buried next to wife Ida.

Harry was called "Dick" because he had a nephew also named Harry (the son of Edward M. Simon).

As stated above, Harry had worked for the Hercules Powder Company. While at work one day (not certain of exact date), he was attempting to repair a broken "acid line" (at the plant) and was severely burned.
