Born July 31, 1941, in Fort Loudon, she was a daughter of the late James Watson and Gladys Viola Hill Mellott.
She was a member of Zion Reformed Church.
A 1959 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, she worked for 22 years at Corning Inc., Greencastle. She retired in 1994.
She was a member of the auxiliaries of Wesley Yeager Post 606 American Legion, Fort Loudon, and BPOElks 600, Chambersburg.
Harry E. Congdon, her husband, died on April 21, 1993. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ray Witmer, and two brothers.
Surviving are three sons, C. Gregory (husband of Shari) of Fort Loudon; Steven K. of Hardin, Ky.; and Randall E. (husband of Jalene) of Chambersburg; a grandson, Stewart K., who resided with Mrs. Ray; seven sisters, Louise Nelling, Shirley Mellott and Monica Dysinger, all of Fort Loudon; Ruth Johns, Joan Coldsmith and June Gearhart, all of Chambersburg; and Rose Wilson of St. Thomas; and a brother, Jack Mellott of Fort Loudon.
Burial will be Monday in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
