Obituary for Jack Mellott

Jack W. Mellott, 91, of Ft. Loudon, died August 29, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 3, 1926, at Ft. Loudon, he was a son of the late James W. and Gladys Hill Mellott.
As a young man, he was employed at John Mellott's Saw Mill. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served aboard the USS Hornet during World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, he began his career at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1988. During his retirement, he hauled parts for Loudon Industries.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, and throwing horseshoes. He was a member of American Legion Post #606 of Ft. Loudon.
His wife, Kathleen Zeger Mellott, died December 13, 2012.
Surviving family include a daughter, Sandra K. (Ronald L.) Zimmerman of Little Cove, a son, Tracy L. Mellott of McConnellsburg, three grandchildren, Todd A. (Marcie) Zimmerman, Annette K. (Tim) Mongold, and Tanner L. Mellott, four great grandchildren, Spencer A. and Zachary T. Zimmerman and Kylea D. and Jenna R. Mongold, four sisters, June Gearhart, Shirley Mellott, Joan Coldsmith and Monica Hershey. Jack was preceded in death by six siblings, Charles Mellott, James Mellott, Jr., Louise Nelling, Ruth Johns, Nancy Ray and Rose Seville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM September 5th at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Pastor Kenny Craig officiating. Burial will be at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Ft. Loudon.
Viewing one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
