Oneida Pearl Shaffer, 73, of Springdale died on December 6, 2001 at her home. She was born on March 8, 1928 in Purdy to Walter Summer and Dora Ellen (Hargis) Smith. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Willard Cope and Roscoe Ross Shaffer. She is survived by her sons, David Cope, Ricky Allen Cope, and Thomas Dale Cope, all of Springdale; her daughters, Gloria Jean Montgomery, Mary Ann Paschall, and Shirley Ann Eggert, all of Springdale; her step-children, Connie Rae, Lewis Shaffer, Lois Katafias, Nelson Shaffer, Roscoe Ross Shaffer, Jr., and William Shaffer; her brother, Donald Gene Smith of Marble; her sisters, Bessie Middleton of Huntsville, Irene Goldie Carter of Springdale, Lillian Dee Binam of Marble, and Mary Ellen Galvan of Forum; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Reynolds and Rev. Freda Reeding officiating. Burial will be in Lower Campground Cemetery in Kingston.
