Johann (went by John) Spach was second of twelve known children of Johann Adam Spach (1753-1816) and Catharina Tesch Spach (1759-1829), who married 23 Nov 1779 at Friedberg, Surry (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

John first married to Anna Catharine Knauss (1781-1847) on 03 Apr 1804 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina. John and Anna were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Anna Rosina Spach (1805-1805)
2. Anna Johanna Spach Hauser (1806-1874)
3. Gertraud (Gertrude or Traudie) Spach Lash (1808-p1887)
4. Louisa Spach Petree (1810-1864)
5. Sarah Spach (1811-1813)
6. Catherine Elizabeth Spach Stultz (1815-1888)
7. Elizabeth Spach Mickey (1817-1908)
8. Thomas Lewis Spach/Spaugh (1819-1865)
9. John Joshua Spach/Spaugh (1822-1896)
10. Henrietta Dorothea Spach Hine (1825-1880)

After Anna died, John married secondly to Elizabeth Butner (1798-1861) on 03 Feb 1848 at Bethania, Forsyth County, North Carolina. John and Elizabeth had no known children.
