THE DANVILLE REGISTER, Danville, Va., Sun., June 26, 1910, p. 8, col. 6. Special to The Register. Martinsville, Va., June 25.
The remains of Mr. James S. Redd, who died suddenly at the home of his niece, near Paces, Halifax County on Thursday, were brought to Martinsville yesterday morning and taken to the old Dodd home of Marrowbone Creek for interment in the family burying ground.
The funeral took place at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was largely attended.
Mr. Redd was a Confederate Veteran and was nearly 70 years old. He was at one time a prominent citizen of Martinsville, but left here many years ago, since which time he has lived in North Carolina, Portsmouth, Va.., and other places.
He is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter, besides whom he leaves a large family connection in this portion of the state.
Mr. Redd was an elector on the Hancock and English ticket in 1889, and was prominent in Democratic politics at that time.
